Mission Statement:

My commitment to international work began when I was undergraduate at Iona college.  As a young, aspiring journalist I wanted to report on stories that I didn't see in U.S. media.  Stories that would make me feel.  I decided to begin my work on a mission trip to Kenya.  I didn't realize at the time how  instrumental this trip was in shaping my desire to work for the world's impoverished.

To truly understand the poor, I wanted to live, study, and work alongside them.  I chose projects with organizations that I felt shared my mission.  I have worked with the following sectors: health, education, tourism, and microfinance.

I am currently working on the development of a start-up company that will use mobile communication as a tool to reach rural markets and foster financial inclusion.  I have always believed that products need to be designed to fit unique cultural contexts.  Markets can only truly work when they reach all in the same manner.  My belief is that services that cater to the top of the pyramid should do the same for the the bottom; using similar but tailored mechanisms.  Equality can be achieved by treating the working poor the same as the wall street banker, yet the challenge is developing ways to tailor these products and services to meet a unique set of needs.  Successful projects always work in the interest of the client, intern the developer must understand their target market.   Understanding these markets, critically analyzing them, and developing solutions  to some of their most complex challenges is at the core of my work.
